The flexibility of working hours at British Nannies is a rare find - both our remote customer service team and in-home caregivers can choose their schedule, and make amendments around any commitments in life. Whether you prefer to only work full-time, part-time, mornings, long hours, or think a 4-day work week would be your style, it's completely up to you!

Governing your own work-life balance requires a healthy amount of self-motivation and time-management, not to mention the ability to communicate effectively. Without a central workplace environment as traditional employment tends to have, making sure you proactively reach out to ask questions and share successes in day-to-day work is key to maintaining a friendly and approachable space, which we strive to keep. For our office team, collaborative working is often supported by our pets walking in front of our screens during meetings, and for our caregivers, we love to share team member stories within the team with “Caregiver of the Month” nominations – while we may speak day-to-day about bookings, its lovely to hear what kind of exciting adventures, charity events, or hobby achievements everyone is proud of, as well.

It's certainly worth it; if you’re a student, parent, keen volunteer, or simply just a hard-worker, having the flexibility to choose which shifts to accept makes paying the bills, managing responsibilities, and pursuing as many passions as you wish easier to manage. This is also why we endeavour to offer multiple options for employment – salaried contracts (for a variable amount of hours, too!), ad-hoc roles, and self-employed alike.

There’s also the aspect of location. Our office team are completely remote, and we have team members all the way from the south coast of England to the outskirts of the Cairngorms in Scotland. Our caregivers are even more widespread, since we not only have clients in cities, but rural locations too. For our care professionals with commitments in multiple locations, such as students with a home and university address, there’s the benefit of being able to switch your “home” location to receive work at both addresses. This means that you can keep consistent employment and not have to get a new job for each new city or town you move to.

Not just allowing, but actively encouraging a stable work-life balance means that we can foster an inclusive environment, suitable for our diverse array of team members. We’re always looking for new ideas on how to further our reputation as a caring company, so please do let us know if you have any contributions, and thank you for reading!
